WE ARE HOMETOWN NEWS.

LUDLOW — Ludlow is celebrating its 250th autumn with a classic New England fall fair, Falling into Fun, organized by the Ludlow 250th Committee, will offer food, seasonal activities and entertainment.

While Ludlow’s incorporation day was Feb. 28, the 250th Committee has made the town’s birthday into a year-long series of events, said Chair Linda Collette.

The weekend will be filled with entertainment from local musical talent at the gazebo, including WARE 97.7 on Oct. 5. Roaming Railroad’s trackless train will provide free rides for families. Hubbard Memorial Library will sponsor and appearance by professional stilt-walker and entertainer Trevor “The Games Man.” On Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a touch-a-truck activity with large vehicles for people to experience close-up. Manuel Amusements will have rides available all weekend, and more than 50 craft vendors have registered for the event.

Collette said there will be 10 food trucks, as well as nonprofits, including the Scouts selling classic fair food, such as hotdogs. For adults, V-One Vodka and Vanished Valley Brewing will be on hand.

“It’s our goal to have something for everyone,” Collette said.

The organizers are still seeking volunteers to help with the event. In particular, Collette said help is needed to staff the kids craft corner.

Falling into Fun is not the last event planned by the 250th Committee. It will also host home decorating contests for Halloween and Christmas, and a tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 1.

“We are a dedicated crew,” Collette said of the committee. The town’s 250th birthday “has been a labor of love for three years,” she said.

Falling into Fun runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 5-6 at Memorial Park and Veteran’s Memorial Park rain or shine. For more information about Falling into Fun or any of the other 250th anniversary events, visit ludlowma250.org.
