CHICOPEE — With election season quickly approaching, Chicopee announced that the early voting location for the state primary will be at Chicopee City Hall Auditorium, 17 Springfield St.
Voters must make sure they are registered to vote in the primary by Aug. 24.
There are three ways to vote: vote by mail, vote in-person for early voting or vote on election day.
Chicopee residents looking to vote early can do so from Saturday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 30, in person or through the mail, with an application to the Board of Registrars.
The early voting location hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The ballot will feature voting for U.S. senator, U.S. representative, Governor’s Council, state senator, state representative, registry of deeds and clerk of courts.
City Clerk Keith Rattell said all the specimen ballots will be on chicopee.gov. He added it would be easiest to view the information that way.
“Keep in mind, for races like state senator and state representative, there are going to be different names for different wards, as the boundary lines change,” he added.
Rattell said out of the 5,889 mail-in post cards that have been sent out, only 1,990 have been returned so far so “they are waiting for more,” he added.
Anyone with a mail-in ballot can drop if off at the drop box at City Hall before the final day the in-person voting ends.
