SPRINGFIELD — The Sept. 1 primary elections in Massachusetts just a few days away, and with 73 precincts within the city’s eight wards, Springfield voters may wonder where to go to cast their ballot or if they are registered to vote.
Massachusetts residents can check if they are registered to vote at sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/MyVoterRegStatus.aspx. The deadline to register for the primary is Saturday, Aug. 22.
For those looking to skip the line at the ballot box, the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is Aug. 25. The in-person early voting period runs from Saturday, Aug. 22 to Friday, Aug. 28. There are limited polling locations for in-person early voting. They are:
- Springfield City Hall — 36 Court St., ground floor. The accessible entrance is at the rear of the building. Saturday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, Aug. 24 through Wednesday, Aug. 26, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 27, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, Aug. 28, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Ray Jordan Senior Center — 1476 Roosevelt Ave. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Greenleaf Community Center — 1187 1/2 Parker St. The building is behind the Sixteen Acres Branch Library. Saturday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Poll hours on Election Day are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If unsure of your precinct, call the Elections Office at 413-787-6190.The polling locations are:
