EAST LONGMEADOW — The East Longmeadow ballot for the annual town election is small in size, but the School Committee and Town Council are showing big races.
Voting for all five precincts will take place on June 2 at Birchland Park Middle School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If residents are not already registered to vote, they must do so by 5 p.m. on May 23. The last day to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot is by 5 p.m. on May 26 at the Town Clerk’s Office. The last day to apply for an in-person absentee ballot is by noon on June 1.
Seeking reelection to a three-year term is Councilor Jonathan Torcia. Torcia is a two-time School Committee candidate, having run unsuccessfully in 2017 and 2018, but won the Town Council vote in 2023 after a career with the Planning Board. He is challenged by Matthew Jacob Boucher and Carolyn Ferros.
Boucher is a former councilor, winning the race for a two-year term against Sid Starks in 2022. He did not seek reelection in 2024. Ferros ran for a seat in the 2025 election, but was beaten out by Councilors Ralph Page, Kathy Hill and Anna Jones.
Two will be voted on for the Town Council seat, as Councilor Marilyn Richards is not running for reelection.
School Committee members Kerri Jarzabski and William Srother are up for reelection on three-year terms. There are two seats available so this race is uncontested, although there is a contested race for a one-year term.
Former School Committee member Sarah Truoiolo is running for a return after spending seven years with the committee, first joining in 2018. She was reelected to three-year terms in 2021 and 2024 but stepped down in August 2025, with the vacancy being filled by Jarzabski. 20-year East Longmeadow resident Christina Cooper is also seeking that one-year term as a write-in candidate.
The ballot also features one question for a charter amendment in article 2, which would allow for the revision or recodification of multiple bylaw amendments to be recommended by a bylaw review committee.
