WESTFIELD — The Wyben Parade Committee is planning its first Lighted Tractor Christmas Parade on Nov. 23 at 5 p.m., the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with a Sunday, Nov. 24 rain/weather date.
The committee, which runs the annual 4th of July parade, has decided to add another event for the Wyben community and all of Westfield and the surrounding towns to enjoy, according to committee member Susan Crane. Other committee members include Jim Bemis, Crystal Bryant, Carlee Collins, Tim Crane, Bob Allen, Dan Puza, Ryan Karolides, Deb Hayden and Greg Bolduc.
The parade route will start at 542 Montgomery Rd. (junction of Montgomery Road and West Road) and end at the Wyben Union Chapel on 678 Montgomery Rd.
Illuminated tractors with working lights are welcome, and attached lighted floats are allowed. No persons on foot, lawn tractors or quads will be allowed, and people are asked not to throw any candy or cheese during the parade. Tractors should line up starting at 3:30 p.m. at the junction of Montgomery Road and West Road.
Post-parade, the tractors will park at Wyben Union Chapel for spectators to enjoy. The chapel will be open for cookies, hot cocoa and coffee, and the public is welcome. Parking will be along Montgomery and North Road.
“Enjoy a beautiful lighted Christmas tree and let your kids create a homemade ornament to add to it,” said Crane. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to place under the tree. All donations will support the Westfield Food Pantry.
“Since this is our first year, please let us know if you plan to participate in the parade,” Crane said, by contacting Greg Bolduc at bolducfarmma@gmail.com or Brian Hartley at brianhartley00@gmail.com or by telephone at 413-427-7199.
