ENFIELD — The Parkman PTO’s annual Fall Fair is taking place Nov. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Edgar H. Parkman School, 165 Weymouth Rd.
Admission is free for attendees, as they can expect to see over 60 vendors ranging from homemade jewelry to candles, blankets, kids’ items, and an array of different hand-crafted items.
There will also be food trucks, picture opportunities with the Grinch, live music, kids’ games, a Scholastic Bookfair, local author visit and reading, raffles and much more.
The Parkman PTO, or Edgar H. Parkman School Parent-Teacher Organization, raises funds to sponsor field trips, school assemblies, teacher luncheons, field day and many other events for the students and staff.
President Kristie Steirer said, “We were looking for a way to fundraise; something different that would involve the community. This is our second year doing this and last year was our beginner year. We had about 20 vendors.”
She went on to say, “This year, we’ve definitely tripled in size and it’s going to be a bigger event where we’re making it more community friendly. We want people to come out to support the school and local vendors.”
Vendors have donated items for their raffle and all the money from the raffle will go toward the students and staff.
The PTO is also accepting canned goods for the Enfield Food Shelf.
“We want to involve the community in the schools and see we’re trying hard to fundraise it,” said Steirer.
“This year has been tough with the budget cuts, so the PTO’s job is to raise funds to make school fun again. The teachers and the children truly appreciate it along with the families and it’s nice.”
