WEST SPRINGFIELD — If you have old furniture, clothes or other items taking up space in your house that you are ready to get rid of or you are looking to purchase one of those items as well, West Springfield is hosting a townwide tag sale on Friday, Aug. 1, Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3.
“The tag sale is a newer community event where residents all over town hold yard sales on the same weekend. It’s a chance for everyone to declutter their homes and for shoppers to hunt for unique treasures,” West Springfield Chief of Operations Carly Camossi-LaPalme said.
The idea came from residents expressing interest in a flea market. Instead of having people bring their items to a singular location, Camossi-LaPalme said the town thought it would be more productive to have people host their own tag sales at their homes.
The town decided to bring back the tag sale weekend due to overwhelming positive feedback from last year’s event, which was hosted to commemorate West Springfield’s 250th anniversary.
“Last year’s townwide tag sale was a fantastic demonstration of West Springfield’s community spirit, and we heard loud and clear how much our residents loved it,” said Mayor William Reichelt, “We are delighted to bring back this beloved weekend event, offering everyone a wonderful opportunity to declutter, discover unique finds, and connect with their neighbors. It’s truly a celebration of local commerce and community engagement.”
Camossi-LaPalme said her hope for the event is “to offer a wonderful opportunity for residents to declutter, discover unique finds and connect with their neighbors. It’s truly a celebration of local commerce and community engagement.”
At press time, West Springfield had 68 total signups with 44 being hosted on Aug. 1, 67 being hosted on Aug. 2, and 41 being hosted on Aug. 3.
Registration for households participating is now available exclusively on the West Springfield website at tinyurl.com/5x9nuw3v.
The dedicated page provides a convenient portal where residents can sign up their tag sale, view the map of registered locations as it develops and make any necessary changes to their registration.
Residents eager to participate as sellers are encouraged to register their tag sale promptly to be included on the official map, guiding shoppers to their locations throughout the weekend.
“The town invites all residents and visitors to enjoy the ‘West Springfield Treasure Hunt Weekend’ and explore the many sales across the community,” Camossi-LaPalme concluded.
