SPRINGFIELD — With less than a week until Election Day, voters may be wondering where they should go to cast their ballot on Nov. 5. In Springfield, there are 42 polling locations that serve the city’s electorate. All locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Voter registration closed on Oct. 26. People can check their voter registration status by clicking the “Check Your Voter Status” button at the top of the Springfield Election Commission page at springfield-ma.gov/elections.
If a voter arrives at the polling place and is told they are on the city’s inactive voter list, they can still cast a ballot after confirming their address, according to City Clerk and Election Commissioner Gladys Oyola-Lopez. The commissioner also said identification is not required, although voters may be asked for one to confirm their residence. People removed from the voter list due to inactivity who still reside in the city may cast a provisional ballot. which legally must be counted.
