EAST LONGMEADOW — At the Feb. 11 meeting of the East Longmeadow Town Council, Deputy Fire Chief Christopher Beecher was promoted to the position of chief. A longtime member of the Fire Department, Beecher is filling a vacancy left by the retirement of former Chief Paul Morrisette. Town Manager Tom Christensen praised Beecher when making his recommendation and the council unanimously voted to approve him. Town Council President Connor O’Shea, Councilors Jim Leydon, Anna Jones, Marilyn Richards, Ralph Page and Jonathan Torcia posed for a photo with the new chief.
