ENFIELD — The Enfield Public Library is hosting its 23rd annual Vehicle Day on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 104 Middle Rd.

This community event will have a wide range of vehicles from fire trucks to police cars, garbage trucks, tow trucks, classic cars — anything with wheels — in its parking lot.

Vehicle Day is for everyone. Children can climb on the vehicles, sit in them, talk to the people that drive them and find out exactly what it does.

Coordinator Lisa Ellis of Children’s Services said, “I always hope for unique vehicles and that people will come because it’s such a great program for the community. Kids love seeing trucks that they see every day on the road, but they can’t get up close and personal to.”

The Enfield Public Library provides various programs for families and Vehicle Day is another way for them to encourage people to come to the library and see what they have to offer.

Ellis explained, “We know that kids are interested in different vehicles, so it was a great way to promote businesses in town that bring vehicles — also vehicles that the town of Enfield has. It was a chance for kids just to meet these people that drive these vehicles.”

Over the 23 years of offering this event, the library received support from Rafferty Fine Grading, a company on South Road who have large construction vehicles, of which they bring three or four to the event.

Ellis wants people to come, spend some time with their families and meet people from the community.
“Everyone who comes has fun. The kids have and the people who bring their vehicles have fun,” Ellis said. “It’s a good chance for the staff to mingle with the community. We always meet new families that we’ve never met before and invite them into the library and see what we have to offer.”
