WARE — On Nov. 21, a special ribbon cutting event took place to celebrate the grand opening of Pineapple Express, a cannabis home delivery company, in the parking lot of Phillips Plaza in Ware on West Street.
Mayor Domenic Sarno joined the Community Music School of Springfield, the Springfield Redevelopment Community for the fourth annual tree lighting ceremony at Union Station. After wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season, Sarno lit the tree and sent the Amherst Railway Society’s model train around the evergreen. The Community School of Music, under the direction of String City Orchestra co-director Will Losch, performed holiday songs before the tree lighting.
CHICOPEE — During the City Council meeting on Nov. 19, multiple residents wearing a “Stop the Truck Stop” sticker used the public comment portion of the meeting to speak against a proposed truck stop that has already been voted against once.
EAST LONGMEADOW — Drizzling rain and gloomy skies did not dampen the spirits of onlookers as elected officials, members of the East Longmeadow School Department, students and professionals from every stage of the East Longmeadow High School project hoisted shovelfuls of dirt to celebrate the project’s groundbreaking.
SOMERS — Somers’ annual Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Somers Senior Center and Town Common. Sponsored by the Somers Lions Club and the Somers Recreation & Leisure Services, this is a free family-friendly holiday event.
LUDLOW — In the middle of a ceremony celebrating the successful renovation of Building 8 of the Ludlow Mills into 95 units of senior housing, something happened that for many attending is a signal for the property’s renewal. The clock tower, a symbol of Ludlow, not only tells time once more but chimed loudly at noon.
