NORTHAMPTON — A mid-year request from the School Committee that the City Council appropriate $600,000 from the city’s Fiscal Stability Fund to the school budget so the department can rehire some of the 20-plus jobs cut last summer, has created another debate on the status of the schools.
EASTHAMPTON — Easthampton High School’s We the People Team has yet again captured a state title — their eighth straight — and are now preparing for April when they head to Washington, D.C., for the national tournament. The team is now seeking donations from the community to help fund the trip.
SOUTHWICK — Since the town learned in early January that a citizens’ petition adopted by two consecutive Town Meetings asking the state to allow the town to elect three of the seven members of the Conservation Commission, there were questions about the next step, until Monday night.
SOUTHWICK — It was announced that Pioneer Valley Trading Co., one of two cannabis retailers chosen by the Select Board to open in town, had been approved for a provisional license from the Cannabis Control Commission, the first step needed to open.
SOUTHWICK — It will be a few more months before the town will open enrollment for the town’s municipal aggregation program because of an unexpected dip in the rate Eversource is currently charging its electricity customers.
SOUTHWICK — Southwick Regional School will perform “Anastastia” from March 14-16 at the school.
