Longmeadow native, author to share lessons of survival
LONGMEADOW — Before becoming an author, Michael Tougias grew up in Longmeadow. On Jan. 8, he will return to the town to give a presentation on his book, “Extreme Survival: Lessons from Those Who Have Triumphed Against All Odds,” at the Longmeadow Adult Center.
LHS orchestra students chosen to play at regional conference
LONGMEADOW — Music is a labor of love for the musicians of the Longmeadow High School symphony orchestra. On April 26, 2025, that labor will pay off as the orchestra is one of only six in schools across 11 states that has been invited to play at the National Association for Music Education’s 58th Eastern Division In-Service Conference.
Hampden leadership talks FY26 budget needs, tax bill increase
HAMPDEN — The Hampden Selectboard met with department heads on Dec. 9 to discuss where the town’s finances stand and what is anticipated for fiscal year 2026, which begins July 1, 2025. The meeting was a key step in creating that year’s budget.
East Longmeadow Town Council creates town buildings account, discusses illegal ‘club’
EAST LONGMEADOW — East Longmeadow owns 16 buildings, many of which need upgrades. “We can’t replace every old building at once,” Councilor Jonathan Torcia said at the Dec. 10 Town Council meeting. To address this, the council voted to create a Capital Stabilization Account.
Boundaries drawn for East Longmeadow’ Center Town District after public input
EAST LONGMEADOW — The East Longmeadow Center Town District Steering Committee took the first concrete step toward creating the district by mapping out the district’s boundaries, using input from residents.
