Belchertown, Ware partner in rain barrel discount program

BELCHERTOWN — Extreme weather and intense rain events have become more common in recent years. In August 2023, many New England communities experienced severe flooding when more than 6 inches of rain fell over a six-hour period. In an effort to mitigate future storm impacts, Belchertown and Ware have partnered with The Great American Rain Barrel Company to offer rain barrels to residents at discounted prices, helping homeowners collect the water, instead of letting it go down the drain.

Wilbraham Hill Climb returns to Monson Road

WILBRAHAM — It was 1908, a big year for the automobile. Henry Ford produced the Model T; six vehicles attempted a trip from New York City to Paris over the Bering Strait and the first Wilbraham Hill Climb saw 72 cars climb the incredibly steep Monson Road. In the case of the Hill Climb, cars are still testing their mettle. This year, on Saturday, May 11, vehicles will again gun their engines to see who will claim victory over gravity and top the hill.
