WEST SPRINGFIELD — Finding cultural enrichment outside of larger cities can be a challenge. It is the mission of the West Springfield Arts Council to foster cultural programs and events and bring them to the people of West Side.
Massachusetts’s new legislative session has begun, and state Sen. Jake Oliveira has his eye on several issues he plans to address over this two-year term. Oliveira, who was first elected to the state Senate in 2022 and reelected in November 2024, said he wants to continue to tackle education, transportation and healthcare.
EAST LONGMEADOW — A contingent from the School Committee and School Department met with the East Longmeadow Town Council on Jan. 14 to discuss budget challenges.
WILBRAHAM — At the Jan. 6 Select Board meeting, the board members expressed hesitation about the 2025 Wilbraham Hill Climb. Organizers Jeff DeMarey and Edward Cenedella came before the board on Jan. 13 to answer questions and try to allay concerns.
LONGMEADOW — The Longmeadow Select Board discussed the possibility of parting ways with Hampden Country Regional Retirement System at its Jan. 21 meeting. However, doing so would be complicated and expensive, with no guarantee that the town would fare better on the other side.
