WE ARE HOMETOWN NEWS.

SOMERS — This fall, the Somers Town Wide Tag Sale returns on Saturday, Oct. 5, rain or shine. Each person that participates chooses their time and are provided with a listing of all the locations by street name in alphabetical order, which will be posted on the town website (somersct.gov) and Facebook page on Thursday, Oct. 3.

“This will be our fourth year,” said Town Clerk David Marti. “We have it twice a year and we pick the first Saturday in May and in October to have it. Each event seems to continue to grow, so I hope it becomes a traditional event in the town that the residents look forward to as an opportunity to acquire things and get rid of things.”

Marti told Reminder Publishing that normally if there’s a tag sale in Somers, you must come in and obtain a permit to have one and it’s $5 a day, so this is an opportunity for citizens to have a tag sale without having to pay any fees in the town.

In April of 2022, the Town Council voted to name the first Saturday in May and October as Town Wide Tag Sale Day. On these two days each year, the $5 per day tag sale permit fee is waived.

“This is another way of service to the town,” said Marti. “When everyone that wants to have a tag sale knows that there will be a lot of people because it’s a collective effort.”

The link for the Town Wide Tag Sale application and guidelines is available at somersct.gov. Submit the completed application to the town clerk’s office by email (dmarti@somersct.gov), drop box outside entry to Town Hall, USPS or bring into Town Clerk’s Office. A confirmation email will be sent acknowledging the receipt of your application for participation in the fall Somers Town Wide Tag Sale. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, Oct. 2.
