Enfield Public Schools offers learning opportunities this summer

ENFIELD — The Enfield Public Schools have some summer learning opportunities for its students this year. The Enfield High School art department is running a Clay Camp for grades 2-12 between July 15-25. The music department is running two opportunities for summer learning, the Instrumental Music Summer Program for grades 6-9 and the Theater Arts Camp for grades 4- 9 from June 24 through July 18.

Riverside Reptiles Education Center: vacationing in your own background

ENFIELD — The Riverside Reptiles Education Center, or RREC, is a zoo that specializes in reptiles and amphibians. The center displays other unique animals such as invertebrates, including spiders, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes and various insects from around the world. They also have a small variety of unique freshwater fishes like electric catfish, electric eel, freshwater puffer fish and alligator gar. RREC has the largest reptile and amphibian collections and venomous snake collection in the area.

Enfield Summer Concert Series returns June 11

ENFIELD — Frank Sinatra will be there, and so will The Beatles and other British Invasion groups like Dave Clark Five. But they will only be there in spirit as the second annual Enfield Summer Concert Series continues to bring live music at the Bandshell at Higgins Park in Enfield on June 11 with The Sounds of Frank.

FISH with CARE event provides learning opportunity for all

ENFIELD — Fishing season is in full swing and on June 8, CT DEEP Fisheries Division, Enfield Community Police and Enfield Recreation will offer FISH with CARE, a free learning opportunity at Freshwater Pond in Enfield.The event, set to take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon, features volunteer state certified fishing coaches who will teach participants how to get started fishing safely, legally and successfully.
